Virginia Wang, PhD
The program on health services and health systems studies will be led by Dr. Virginia Wang, who is an experienced investigator with training in health services, policy, and organizational behavior research. Her research has several foci of health services and comparative effectiveness research in renal care, organizational behavior, implementation research, and health services research methodology. For over a decade, Dr. Wang has led research that examines the provision of dialysis care in the context of Medicare policy and the dynamics of the US dialysis industry. Her expertise in organizational behavior has been applied in several studies funded by AHRQ, NIDDK, and the Department of Veterans Affairs that examine changes in health care organization on patient access to care and organizational and patient outcomes. Dr. Wang’s implementation research experience includes studies funded by RWJ, NCI and the Department of Veterans Affairs examining facilitators, barriers, and adaptations of implementation of federal policy and programs. She is currently co-Principal Investigator and directs the Implementation Core of a VA program grant, overseeing implementation activities and the evaluation of implementation of new clinical programs into routine practice.
